Lovers Make Better Athletes

In a study presented to the American Psychological Association, Kelly Campbell, PhD and assistant professor at Cal State noted that being in a long-term, loving relationship improves athletic performance.  Passionate love -typical in the early stage of a relationship- has a smaller effect than committed, compassionate love.  This runs counter to the well-worn adage that relationships drain us of energy.  EEGs of people in love show increased blood flow to the areas associated with motivation which are activated when athlete focus on winning.  So if you are looking to improve your score on the course or on the court, find a loving partner!
