Movie Review: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Frequently poignant, always humorous, and brilliantly played by some top-flight British actors who overcome an only so-so plot making the entire package surprisingly enjoyable.

The film is named for the rundown hotel in a small town in India that becomes the home and the interaction-setting for a group of English tourists, somewhat strapped for money, and trying to enjoy the best years of their retirement. Based on the exaggerated promises of a promotional brochure, they move into this down at the heels hotel and cope with the challenges (both physical and emotional), generally with good sense, good humor and typically British aplomb.

This was fun and it’s a good date movie.
